Dual-Cured Resin-Modified Calcium Silicate Pulpotomy Treatment

TheraCal PT® is a biocompatible, dual-cured, resin-modified calcium silicate. It has the same great Thera technology and benefits as its predecessors but is primarily indicated for pulpotomies after the partial or full removal of the coronal pulp. TheraCal PT maintains tooth vitality by performing as a barrier and protectant of the dental pulpal complex.

While other calcium hydroxide-based materials have relatively high solubility, which can lead to dissolution over time, TheraCal PT® is moisture tolerant and will not wash out. Its physical properties resist breakdown and degradation to provide a durable seal.

Application is made easy with TheraCal PT® from the 4g dual- syringe with auto-mix tip that eliminates hand mixing. Directly apply TheraCal PT into the pulp chamber, and the dual-cured set allows for immediate placement of the restorative material. The material has a working time of 45 seconds and a setting time of 5 minutes. After light curing the material for 10 seconds, clinicians can immediately place the desired adhesive with any bonding technique (self-, total-, selective-etch), base, and/or restoration.* TheraCal PT® is also radiopaque, enabling easy identification and differentiation from recurrent decay and other restorative materials.

TheraCal PT® requires fewer steps as compared to other pulpotomy treatment materials, which can help time efficiency and comfort.

Calcium Release**

TheraCal PT’s unique hydrophilic matrix facilitates calcium release.**

Radiopaque

TheraCal PT is radiopaque and can easily be identified from recurrent decay and other restorative materials.**

Alkaline pH**

Alkaline pH at 7 days.**

Easy Syringe Application

Unlike traditional MTA products, there is no mixing by hand. Easily and directly dispense TheraCal PT from the dual-barrel auto-mix 4g syringe.

Moisture Tolerant

Unlike calcium hydroxide, TheraCal PT has low solubility and will not wash out over time.**

Dual-Cured

Confidently place TheraCal PT in one layer as it is a dual-cured material.

Unique Hydrophilic Matrix

BISCO has developed a unique hydrophilic matrix that allows for ion exchange. Previous or traditional resin matrices have been hydrophobic, but BISCO’s matrix allows for ion exchange as water goes into the matrix, reacts, and calcium hydroxide ions are released. This matrix is hydrophilic but will not dissolve over time.

Pulpotomy Treatment

There are several ways in which a pulp can be damaged. Most commonly in children, tooth decay or traumatic injury lead to painful pulp exposure and inflammation. The primary goal of a pulpotomy is to treat, restore, and save the tooth. Although the primary teeth eventually exfoliate, they are needed for speech function, mastication, to help guide proper alignment and spacing of permanent teeth and to maintain bone for permanent tooth development. TheraCal PT can help.

This game-changing product eliminates traditional pulpotomy treatments from hand mixing to a direct syringe placement. Most importantly, it releases calcium! Perfect for those antsy children since TheraCal PT is fast and efficient!

FAQs

TheraCal PT is not intended to replace TheraCal LC.TheraCal PT and TheraCal LC share some of the same indications for use, however, we recommend you use TheraCal PT for pulpotomies and continue to use TheraCal LC as a liner and for direct and indirect pulp capping. This approach is more cost-effective based on the number of applications from 1 box of TheraCal LC (4 – 1g syringes = 40-50 uses depending on application/s) versus TheraCal PT’s 1 – 4g syringe (approximately 12 – 15 pulpotomy applications).

Primary indication is Pulpotomies. TheraCal PT may also be used for pulp capping, liner or as a base.

18 Months. TheraCal PT syringe is pouched and should remain so until ready to use. Once pouch is opened, use TheraCal PT within 90 days.

TheraCal PT should be stored at room temperature (68°-77° F; 20°-25° C)

Minimum of 45 seconds

Maximum of 5 minutes

No. Achieve hemostasis, place TheraCal PT, light cure for 10 seconds and place desired adhesive, base, and/or restoration following manufacturer’s directions for restoring tooth.

One of the known limitations of calcium hydroxide-based materials is their relatively high solubility, which leads to dissolution of the material over time. TheraCal PT is moisture tolerant and will not wash out.

TheraCal PT is a resin-modified calcium tri-silicate that has enhanced physical properties when compared to MTA material. Essentially, the primary chemical used in both materials are similar but TheraCal PT contains a unique hydrophilic resin, which facilitates calcium release. Similar to MTA material, TheraCal PT has an alkaline pH.

Yes, after hemostasis, disinfectants, desensitizers or wetting agents can be used. Please note per the instructions for use: when chlorohexidine and sodium hypochlorite are used together staining may occur. If used together there should be a saline rinse in between.

Unlike TheraCal LC, TheraCal PT is a dual-cured material indicated for pulpotomies. TheraCal PT and LC both use THERA technology which is a
unique hydrophilic resin matrix that facilitates calcium release. PT and LC are both radiopaque, moisture tolerant and offer an alkaline pH.
